Northwest-central sites-2 of 2: sites 48-50, 52-53, 72, and 74-75 (n=8 sites), For sites Pa33, 36-38, 42-44, and 46-47, instead go here. Note that sometimes we used “Bb” to denote Babeltheop (the “mainland”) and sometimes “Aw” for Aiwakoko Passage in the site codes. Also, please note that, given the huge number of pictures on this page, it may take literally minutes to load fully!

Please note that sites PaBb51 and PaAw73 have been grouped with the “Northwest (southern)” sites (previous page). High-resolution habitat maps will be posted on the Living Oceans Foundations’ website in late 2019.PaBb33 (2015-1-21) Based on the pict…

PaBb48 (2015-1-26) back reef in the Aiwakoko Lagoon

PaBb48 sampled P. acuta colonies (n=3; PaPd91-93)

PaBb48 sampled Seriatopora spp. colonies (n=4; PaSe117-120)

PaBb49 (2015-1-26) patch reef in the Aiwakoko Lagoon

PaBb49 sampled P. acuta only (not genotyped; PaPd94)

PaBb49 sampled Seriatopora sp. colony (PaSe121)

PaBb50 (2015-1-26) lagoonal patch reef

PaBb50 sampled P. acuta colonies (n=2; PaPd95-96)

PaBb50 sampled Seriatopora spp. colonies (n=3; PaSe122-124)

PaBb52 (2015-1-27) Night patch reef site in the Aiwakoko Lagoon. P. acuta colonies (n=5) were tagged and sampled in the day, and then sampled again at night. I missed site PaBb53 (lagoonal patch reef) on account of setting up for the night dive. Seriatopora spp. were likely present, but I was too busy with the night dive colonies.

PaBb52 sampled P. acuta colonies (n=6; PaPd100-105)

PaBb72 (2015-2-3) lagoonal patch reef

PaBb72 sampled P. acuta colony (PaPd124)

PaBb72 sampled Seriatopora spp. colonies (n=5; PaSe174-178)

PaAw74 (2015-2-4) lagoonal patch reef-night dive site (sampled/tagged P. acuta colonies in the day and then re-sampled at night). On account of this, I missed diving at site PaAw75.

PaAw74 sampled P. acuta colonies (n=10; PaPd125-134)
