Pincher Reef (near the rock islands)-second dive of the trip (PaPi02). Although three pocilloporids were sampled (see below), Seriatopora spp. were not observed at this lagoonal fringing reef.
Coral cover between 2 and 35 m: 40.2%
Algal cover between 2 and 35 m: 54%!
However, only five genera were observed: Pocillopora, Acropora, Porites (the “big three”), and two others which may or may not be evident in the scant photos posted below.
Pincher Reef is located to the left of the map. High-resolution habitat maps will be placed on the Living Oceans Foundation’s mapping site eventually.
Note that a tourist dive site, “The Pinchers,” is located nearby.
