Had the amazing opportunity to dive and survey a sizable chunk of the western half of Turks and Caicos with Explorer Ventures. Managed to hit Providenciales, West Caicos, and French Cay, all of which are experiencing catastrophic coral loss due to stony coral tissue loss disease. Thankfully, the local coral reef-focused NGO, Turks and Caicos Reef Fund, is making heroic strides in all manner of coral conservation (coral restoration, disease treatments, coral husbandry+propagation of resilient genotypes, education, and more). Were I one with disposable income, I’d not hesitate to donate to their cause. As for now, I hope to lend my expertise, data, images, and whatever else I can offer. Here are some of the many photos I took while there.
